Welcome Greta Feeney, Chair of Vocal Department

Beginning January 2, 2018, we're pleased to welcome Greta Feeney, our new vocal department chair.

A performer, teacher, and administrator, Feeny previously served as executive director of Nantucket Music Center and has served on the music faculties of the Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music, Bergen College, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. She holds degrees from the Mannes College of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. In addition, Feeney had a performance career as an opera singer with the San Francisco Opera for more that 15 years and has performed as a soloist.

Feeney will play a key role in leading the development of an enhanced voice department at Powers while also teaching private voice lessons.

"I am honored to become part of the team at Powers Music School, and I look forward to building upon and enhancing existing vocal programs to further fulfill the organization's inspiring mission of musical excellence. As a lifelong learner, I am excited to both teach and learn from my students, and to begin collaborating with the outstanding Powers faculty on performance projects. I look forward to helping my studentsdevelop the kind of freedom and flexibility in their voices that will help them express themselves in a diverse array of musical styles," Feeney says.

Private lessons for the spring semester at Powers will begin the last week of January. For registration information, please contact the Registrar at 617-484-5750.
