Faculty members:

For Recitals in the community and/or at All Saints' Episcopal Church use the links below to sign your students up for recital times.

Students and Parents:

We encourage all of our students to take advantage of the numerous performance opportunities during the year. Please scroll down to view all of the many ways in which students can perform and supplement their private lessons and classes! For recitals, ask your teacher to submit your information for a specific recital time slot. Once the form is submitted, you will be contacted with a link to sign up for an accompanist. Please refer to our online calendar for all other event and academic dates.

2018 - 2019 Student Performance Opportunities

Mildred Freiberg Piano Festival
Local piano students in grades K-8 and their teachers from the community join together for this special weekend-long event!
When: April 6-7, concerts at 1:30, 3:00, 4:30, 6:00, 7:30 pm

Where: Payson Park Church, 365 Belmont Street, Belmont

Sign-up: Powers students and regional piano students can download an application on the Piano Festival webpage.

Martha B. Sosman Concerto Competition
Local piano students may submit an application to enter our 3rd Annual Concerto Competition for a chance to win a cash prize and perform with the MYSP Orchestra!
When: Application Deadline - Friday, January 4; Finals Round - Friday, February 8

Stein Chamber Music Festival
Honoring Belmont residents and music supporters Joseph and Lise Stein, this festival brings chamber musicians and ensembles of all ages together for a fun, informal concert with potluck dinner.
When: January 26, 5:30 pm

Where: All Saints' Church, 17 Clark Street, Belmont

Performathon!
Join us for this fun afternoon of student performances, crafts, games, and snacks! All are welcome to enjoy the day's activities and buy some Powers gear! Funds raised through student pledges and donations support Powers' financial aid scholarship program. Learn more on our Performathon webpage.
When: March 9, 1:00-7:00 pm (performances throughout the afternoon)

Studio Recitals
All private lesson students in each teacher's studio gather for their own recital event to learn from each other and have fun!
Fall Semester: December 8, 15, 16, January 13
Spring Semester: May 18, June 2, 8, 9

All-School Recitals
All-schools are open to any Powers student who wishes to perform, featuring a variety of ages, levels, instruments, and faculty.
Fall Semester: October 27, November 10, 17
Spring Semester: March 23, 30

High School / Honors Showcase
Featuring Powers students by nomination of their teachers for outstanding achievements during the year or during their time at Powers.
When: June 2, 8

Adult Recitals
A more "formal" performance event for adults who wish to gain experience and battle their nerves.
Fall Semester: January 19, 7:30 pm

Adult "Play-Ins"
A more "informal" and fun performance event for those who want to enjoy music with fellow students and friends.

Jam Sessions
Casual, drop-in nights to play and enjoy music with friends!

  • MYSP Orchestra and Conservatory Program students - March 10, 3:00 pm, at 51 Walden Performing Arts Center, Concord
  • MYSP Orchestra, select chamber ensembles, and the 2019 Concerto Competition winner - May 19, 3:00 pm, at Arlingtown Town Hall
