Registration

* Students are registered for the entire academic year (26-34 weeks depending on the type of instruction).
* Registration is considered final with receipt of the annual $30 registration fee ($60/family) and, unless a payment plan has been arranged, the semester's tuition.
* Lesson times arranged at registration are considered permanent for the year.
* Students who enter after the start of a semester will be charged on a pro-rated basis for the duration of the semester.
New Students
Prospective new students are encouraged to contact the School to schedule a free placement consultation to help advise them in their musical studies. Call the School to schedule an appointment with the School's Executive and Artistic Director, Helen Clapp Stevenson. Returning Students
Returning students receive priority registration if they enroll for the fall semester by June 30, 2011. If the full school year tuition is paid by June 30, 2011, the registration fee will be waived. Students who withdraw from the spring semester will then be assessed any applicable registration fee.
Discounts
* Multiple Private Lesson Discount: Families who have two or more full school year registrations of private instruction will qualify for a discount. The discount of $25 for each full year of enrollment in private lessons. The discount is applied to the spring semester tuition charges. No partial discounts will be given for students who are registered for less than a full school year.
* Senior Discount: A 10% discount (60+) is available upon request on all programs. No additional discounts will apply.
Payment Instructions
* Payment by check is preferred. However, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) are welcome.
* A $30 per student/$60 per family non-refundable annual registration fee is due at the time of registration.
* Tuition is for the full school year (26-34 weeks). At the time of registration, invoices contain charges for the full school year, registration fees and other applicable fees. If aaplicable, multiple private lesson discounts are applied to the spring tuition payment.
Payment Options
1. Upon registration, the current semester tuition and the $30 per student/$60 per family non-refundable annual registration fee are due. Once registered, the spring semester tuition is due on December 9, 2011.
2. Extended Payment Plan: Payment plans for full year programs are available for an annual fee of $30. Tuition and fees will be paid in up to (10) monthly payments due on the 1st weekday of the month. Payment by check is required on extended payment plans. If check payments are not received within 5 work days of payment due date, the credit card on file will be charged. Monthly payments that are not paid by the due date may be subject to having the plan revoked whereby the full account balance will be due. A Payment Plan does not invalidate the obligation to pay for the entire year.

Policies
Withdrawal and Tuition Refund Policy
Continuing Private Lesson Students
Last day for continuing private lesson students to withdraw with a full tuition refund:
Fall semester: August 1, 2011
Spring semester: December 1, 2011
New Private Lesson Students
Prior to the 4th lesson of the semester: full tuition refund minus the cost of 4 lessons.
After the 4th lesson of the first semester: no refund
All Students
There are no refunds for semester group classes once the student is officially registered.
If a student elects not to continue in private lessons/group classes from one semester to the next, the student must submit that request in writing to the office. Failure to notify the office does not release a student from his/her financial obligation.
Partial refunds may be considered for extenuating circumstances such as prolonged illness or injury.
Powers reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled, full tuition and any registration fees will be refunded to the student.
Delinquent Accounts
Powers Music School reserves the right to stop a student's instructional activities if there is an unpaid account balance. Accounts with outstanding balances of over 10 working days will be charged a late payment fee of $25.
Returned Check Policy
Powers Music School charges a fee of $25 for all returned checks.
Tardiness and Make-Up Lessons
Powers Music School's policies have been developed to encourage and promote the joyful study of music in our students. Therefore, regular attendance by students is expected. Students who arrive late cannot be guaranteed a full lesson.
Private lesson students receive one excused make-up lesson per semester. An absence is excused if a minimum of 24 hours notice is given to the School's Registrar. If less than 24 hours notice is provided, the absence may be considered excused if it is based on illness or injury of the student. Make-up lessons are given at the end of the school year unless the instructor and the student otherwise agree upon an alternative time.
There are no excused absences for group classes or summer lessons.
All private lessons and group classes will be made up for teacher absences. Weather closure make-ups are limited to one day per school year.
Students who withdraw before the end of the school year will forfeit any student absence or weather make-up lessons they are owed.
School Cancellation
Powers Music School does not follow the cancellation or vacation dates of any one school. Please consult Powers' calendar and website for holidays and vacation weeks during the year. Weather cancellations will be posted on the websites of local TV channels 5 and 7 as well as www.powersmusic.org.
Permission for Use of Photographs and Video
Photographs and video taken of students at Powers Music School sponsored events may be used for publication and marketing, unless a written request is submitted during student registration.
Nondiscrimination Policy
Powers Music School does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, nationality, sex, ethnic origin, or religious beliefs in its admissions, financial aid, scholarships and other educational policies.
