Created in the memory of long-time Powers voice faculty Peter Elvins, this competition is open to all vocalists ages 15 and older. The winners for each division are awarded a cash prize. Peter Elvins took tremendous pride in his students' growth and accomplishments as musicians. His legacy of passion for music and teaching lives on in this vocal competition. The competition is split into two categories: 1) the Teen Division for ages 15-18 and 2) the Classical/Opera Division for ages 19 and older.

Applications must include an official application form, proof of age, CD or audiocassette, registration fee (payable by check or money order to Powers Music School), and must be postmarked by Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Only the first 100 applicants for each division are considered. All application fees received beyond the first 100 are refunded. Tapes/CDs are not returned.

Finals Competition Concert: Saturday, January 30, 2010, 7:30pm
