Although this year's Performathon event took place in March, it's not too late to make a donation to Powers Music School's Annual Fund! Click here for more info.
Powers Music School held its 2012 Performathon event on March 10 at Barnes & Noble in Burlington. Over 175 performers participated in the all-day marathon of student performances and more than 500 audience members attended the event. Through this celebration of music, $4,073 was collected from approximately 125 individuals to support the Powers Music School's Financial Aid Scholarship Program.
The School extends a huge thank you to all the students who collected pledges, the musicians who performed at Barnes & Noble, and the many family and community members who lent support by donating to this important cause. Thank you, as well, to all the individuals who shopped at Barnes & Noble from March 9 - 15, whose purchases helped us raise an additional $826.47, bringing the grand total raised through this event to $4,899.47! We are also very appreciative of the efforts of our faculty for preparing their students so well.
Special thanks to the following businesses for contributing prizes to the students who raised the most money and collected the most pledges: Spectrum Music, Rancatore's Ice Cream & Yogurt, Flatbread Company, and A Chocolate Dream. This year's prizes went to: Lloyd Ellison (most money raised); Joshua Lee (most pledges collected); Joseph Sorel (2nd place, most money raised); Henry Burnham and Andrew Lu (tie for 2nd place, most pledges collected).
A huge thank you to our Performathon Corporate Sponsor Allston Piano Moving Company, A Division of Gentle Giant!
Powers Music School's annual Performathon fundraiser celebrates the musical accomplishments of our students. Event participants range from beginners to advanced and from children to adults. Any student interested in performing should contact their teacher. Faculty should sign-up their students early as this event is very popular. The pledges we receive during Performathon support the School's Financial Aid Scholarship Program. It is only with the help of our generous donors that we can continue to make music education accessible to need-based students.
