Individual weekly sessions provide opportunities for individuals of all abilities and ages to experience self-empowerment and self-expression through active exploration of percussion instruments, piano, guitar, and voice. Our Board Certified music therapists use adaptive and compensatory techniques to help individuals develop mentally, physically or socially, to influence behavior or mood, and/or to facilitate musical achievement.
Powers is proud to introduce a new collaboration with the Waltham Council on Aging, where music therapist Trish Jonason will lead a 6-week Music Agility program for patrons. During classes, participants sing, play instruments, compose lyrics, and learn to follow written musical cues to help stimulate long-term and short-term memory, elevate mood, and maintain physical function.
