Powers Music School is pleased to welcome ten new faculty members! All teachers are accepting new students and have extensive teaching experience.
Daniel Acsadi, who teaches guitar, is currently completing his doctorate at New England Conservatory, where he also received his Master of Music degree. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and is Director of the Boston Classical Guitar Society.
Spencer Aston, trumpet teacher, received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, his Master of Music degree from University of New Mexico, and his Bachelor of Music degree from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He has also taught at UMass Boston, Longy School of Music, and South Shore Conservatory.
I-Hsuan Cheng, piano teacher, received both her Doctoral of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees at the Eastman School of Music, and her Bachelor of Music degree from Soochow University in Taipei, Taiwan. She has taught at Pine Manor College, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, elementary and junior high schools in Taiwan, and private studios in the Boton area and Taipei.
Michael Carey, saxophone instructor, earned his Bachelor of Music degree from UMass Amherst. His other teaching experience includes Zumix and the Tewksbury and Brookline Public School systems.
Peter Kenagy, who teaches trumpet, received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from University of Illinois and his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from New England Conservatory. In addition to Milton Academy and Camp Encore-Coda, he has taught at New England Conservatory’s Prep School.
Erica Klein, Suzuki cello instructor, holds a Master in Fine Arts degree from Brandeis University and a Master in Education degree from Boston University. She received her Bachelor in Music degree from Brown University, and has completed and registered Suzuki teacher training in books 1-3. She has taught at Longy School of Music, Framingham Public Schools, and Artisan Music Studios.
Andrew Krahn received his degree in music therapy from Berklee College of Music. He is a Board Certified Music Therapist and, in addition to music therapy, he will teach an introductory course in Digital Music-Making. He has employed a wide range of teaching techniques while working with a variety of populations, from infants to the elderly.
Min Lew, piano and Keys for Kids instructor, received her Master of Music degree from Longy School of Music and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College. Her other teaching experience includes the Linnaean Community School and Stoneham Theater.
Morgan Scagliotti, who teaches violin, holds a Master of Music degree from Boston University and Bachelor of Music degree from Cleveland Institute of Music. She has taught at Framingham Public Schools and Holliston School for the Performing Arts.
Andrew Sorg, trumpet instructor, received his Bachelor of Music degree from The Boston Conservatory. He has taught at Boston College, The Boston Conservatory, Eastern Nazarene College, and Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute.
