Music on the Hill (MOTH), Ages 8-18

Summer Music Program for Preteen & High School Students

Looking for a unique summer music program? MOTH is perfect for music students in middle school or high school in Belmont and the greater Boston area hoping to work on their instruments before the fall!

Registration for our Summer 2019 day programs will open on January 2, 2019.

What is Music on the Hill?

Music on the Hill (MOTH) is a three-week chamber music program offering a well-rounded curriculum of daily orchestra rehearsals, musicianship classes, electives, and private lessons. MOTH students play in two chamber ensembles, weekly solo recitals, and the MOTH orchestra, and can explore new genres of music through jazz and fiddle electives. The program ends with performances by all ensembles.

Our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program provides leadership experience for students ages 16-18. CIT students assist with activities throughout the day, and have daily rehearsal and coaching time within their CIT ensembles.

The MOTH program is designed for motivated intermediate to advanced instrumentalists who are eager to have fun making music with others. MOTH faculty members are well-known for their experience and success with young people at this formative and decisive stage of musical development. Participants come away with a heightened musical awareness, new friendships, and an enthusiastic interest in being part of future chamber music ensembles and orchestras.
