Faith Hutchison-Williard photoTeaching Philosophy: To develop each student to their fullest potential in a challenging, yet friendly and nurturing environment, and to help create a life-long enjoyment and appreciation of music and music-making.

Teaching Experience: Powers Music School faculty member for 37 years. Other teaching experience includes: private studio in NYC, Flute Center of Boston, The Music School of Providence and Brown University. Besides teaching at Powers, maintains a private studio in Providence, RI.

Performance Experience: Freelancing in Detroit and NYC area, chamber and orchestral music under such conductors as Sixten Ehrling and Andre Previn. Freelanced as a studio musician in NYC area and southeastern New England. Presently active as chamber musician in southeastern New England; member of Henschel Ensemble and flute/harp duo.

B.M. with honors, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (flute and music history/musicology)
M.M. Manhattan School of Music, NYC (flute performance)

Teachers include: Ervin Monroe (principal Detroit Symphony), Harold Bennett (principal NY Met Opera Orchestra), Julius Baker (principal NY Phil Orchestra) and Thomas Nyfenger (Yale School of Music)
