Created in memory of long-time Powers voice faculty Peter Elvins, this competition is open to all vocalists ages 15 and above. Peter took tremendous pride in his students' growth and accomplishments as musicians. His legacy of passion for music and teaching lives on in this vocal competition.

The winners for each division will be awarded a cash prize and the winner of the Classical/Opera Division will be given the opportunity to perform a solo with Belmont Open Sings on April 5, 2009.

The competition is split into two categories: 1) the Teen Division for ages 15 - 18 and 2) the Classical/Opera Division for ages 19 and older (open to all level of singers).

Applications must include an official application form, proof of age, CD or audiocassette, and registration fee (payable by check or money order to Powers Music School) and must be postmarked by Monday December 15, 2008. Only the first 100 applicants for each division will be considered. All application fees received beyond the first 100 will be refunded. Tapes/ CDs will not be returned.

Finals Competition Concert:
Saturday, January 31, 2008, 8:00 pm
Location: Payson Park Church, 365 Belmont Street

Application fee: $15 Teen Division and $25 Classical/Opera Division
