33rd Anniversary Celebration of the
Stein Chamber Music Festival
Ensemble Chair: Sarah Freiberg
The Stein Chamber Music Festival is a wonderful musical celebration that gives area musicians an opportunity to perform chamber music. Over thirty years ago, the Festival was created to honor the memory and accomplishments of Joseph Stein, long-time Belmont resident and music supporter. The Festival also honors his wife, Lise Stein, who passed away in 2007. Stein's love of chamber music lives on in this spectacular evening which celebrates the great literature written for small ensembles.
The festival offers a double program featuring a pot-luck dinner intermission for festival participants. Two unique performances begin at 5:30 and 7:30 pm, and will encompass a wide variety of genres in different instrumental settings, by all ages and abilities. One can expect to hear amateur and professionals together under one roof in a joyful atmosphere of learning, sharing and performance. Boundaries of chamber music are stretched by a selection of music ranging from works by Bach, Haydn and Vivaldi to jazz standards by Duke Ellington and Chick Corea.
Ensembles interested in playing at this year's annual Stein Chamber Music Festival should contact Powers Music School. If you are a musician but not currently part of an ensemble, festival chair Sarah Freiberg can help place you in an ensemble. Call Gregg Charron at 617-484-4696 x15 or email gcharron@powersmusic.org to register.
