SoundPainting Ensemble

SoundPainting Ensemble

Instructor: Dennis Shafer

Students will explore jazz, classical, and world music in this unique gesture-based music-making course. Soundpainting us the art of making music through gestures. One soundpainter/composer directs the group while others follow with their own musical expression, either using precomposed musical palettes or improvising. Individuals will learn to follow other soundpainters and to eventually soundpaint themselves, freeing up the most hesitant of classical musicians to improvise with the most audacious jazz improvisers.

All performance levels in one ensemble.
No audition is required.

Note: Open to all levels of string, guitar, woodwind, brass, percussion, and piano students.
Class time: TBA
Tuition: $199 per semester (13 classes)
