Powers Music School is a community music school whose mission is to provide superior musical instruction and performance opportunities to all interested students, introducing them to the joy of music. Also, the School is dedicated to providing musical outreach opportunities in the community. The founding principles, that all students are entitled to high quality musical instruction and that music is an essential part of our lives, continue to guide the School today.
The School opened its doors in 1964 as a program of the Belmont Community Center enrolling twelve recorder students and sponsoring its first community piano festival. In 1972 it became the Belmont Music School, in September 1998, the School opened a second campus in Lexington, and in 2004 closed its Lexington branch in its first step towards the School's new expanded Belmont campus strategy.
Today, Powers Music School has 4 building locations including its administrative office building at 396 Concord Avenue, Belmont. Today the School works with over 1000 individuals each year with one of our music instruction or competition programs.
We have spent nearly 50 years working to make superior music instruction available, affordable, and accessible to all members of the community and the pride we take in nurturing the musician in all of our students has succeeded.
However, the reality is that tuitions alone can not support these efforts. We need your help! Your donation to the School's annual fund helps us ensure that we can continue our extensive musical outreach programs in the community as well as quality musical instruction for students of all ages. The gift of music can last a lifetime. So please won't you consider making your tax-deductible gift today! Your donation will make a difference!
