Colleen McGary-Smith


Colleen McGary-Smith teaches cello at Powers Music School. Colleen is an active performer on both modern and baroque cello as well as viola da gamba. She attended the Eastman School of Music Preparatory Department, received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and her Master of Music degree from Boston University. Her main instructors were Alan Harris, Andres Diaz and Richard Aaron.

Colleen currently performs with Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, and Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston among others, and has performed in the past with Boston Lyric Opera, Columbus Symphony, Canton Symphony, Erie Philharmonic and Washington Bach Consort.

Previous teaching appointments include the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department, Indian Hill Arts Center, Community Music School of Boston and the Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory Department.
