I-Hsuan Cheng started her life as a pianist at the age of four, and she has continued as a recitalist and a chamber musician throughout her life. She completed her graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music, receiving both a Master of Music degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the tutelage of Dr. Nelita True. She has performed in master classes given by distinguished pianists John Perry, Gilbert Kalish, Paul Badura-Skoda, Malcolm Bilson, Logan Skelton, Einar Steen-Nökleberg, and Kenneth Copper. Ms. Cheng’s performing career has taken her around the world, including Rhodos, Como, Taipei, New York City, San Diego, Paris, and Prague. After winning first place in the 2004 Biannual Piano Competition in Mexicali, Mexico, Ms. Cheng toured Ensenada and Mexicali with Orquesta de Baja California. Other notable events include performances with cellist Felix Fan in San Diego’s Taiwanese Heritage Week and a performance in her hometown of Yuan-Lin, Taiwan with her sister, Iman Cheng.
