Dimitar Petkov teaches viola and violin at Powers Music School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the State Music Academy in Bulgaria, his Professional Studies Diploma from Harid Conservatory, an Artist Certificate from SMU Meadow School for the Arts, and an Artist Diploma from Longy School of Music. He has been the Principal Violist of the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, the Southwest Florida Philharmonic, and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra in Spoleto, Italy. Dimitar has been a First Prize winner at the Bulgarian Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize winner at the Bulgarian National Music Competition and Longy School of Music Concerto Competition. In addition to performing with the Sofia Philharmonic and the National Bulgarian Radio Orchestra, his previous engagements include recital and chamber music performances in Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, Italy, and Turkey; and in the United States with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, New England String Ensemble, Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, New England String Ensemble, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Newton Symphony Orchestra, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, Kalistos Chamber Orchestra, and Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra. In addition to Powers, Dimitar has taught at Weston Public Schools and Phillips Exeter Academy.
